91吃瓜 Launches the Largest Capital Campaign in Its History
ALBANY, N.Y. 鈥� 91吃瓜 has launched the public phase of the largest capital fundraising campaign in its 55-year history. The聽Empower with Purpose聽campaign has already raised more than 80% of its $5 million goal, with聽$4.1 million聽secured.
The public phase of the campaign聽launched聽with a聽dinner聽at the聽Renaissance Albany Hotel鈥檚 Dewitt Ballroom聽on julio 8, bringing聽together聽alumni, donors,聽faculty, staff,聽and community partners from around the country聽ahead of Excelsior鈥檚 Commencement ceremony.听Funds raised through the聽campaign聽will support Excelsior鈥檚聽promise to聽meet students where they聽are,聽especially those聽historically underrepresented in higher education.
鈥淭he Empower聽with聽Purpose campaign聽is聽a continued commitment to 91吃瓜鈥檚 mission聽to聽expand聽access,聽create聽opportunities, and聽transform聽lives through education,鈥� said 91吃瓜 President David Schejbal.听鈥淪trengthening聽the聽support聽systems that聽help聽learners begin,聽persist, and complete their聽academic聽journeys聽contributes聽directly聽to聽student success.听Together, we can聽empower聽future generations to achieve their goals聽through higher education.鈥�
Empower with Purpose聽campaign highlights聽to聽date聽include聽a聽$1 million legacy gift from renowned nursing educator and Excelsior emeritus professor Larry Purnell,聽the聽largest individual聽donation in the聽institution鈥檚聽history;聽a聽transformational聽estate聽gift聽to support the College of Nursing and Health Sciences聽from聽Mary聽Beth聽Hanner; the establishment of 15 new endowed scholarships; immediate use funds from Arrow Financial Corporation, Broadview Federal Credit Union, CDPHP, High Blue Shield of Northeastern New York, J.O. Wells Memorial Education Foundation, KeyBank, the Massry Family, M&T Bank, United Healthcare, Upstate Commercial Property Management, and more; and strong support from trustees and the Excelsior staff, faculty, and alumni community. These gifts are already providing support for new student scholarships, career readiness programs, military and veteran services, nursing workforce development including clinical partnerships, and engineering and technology program enhancements.
